As a gay man (he/him) residing in Scarsdale, New York, James Horner is a queer chronicler who attempts to educate the public and divert discrimination from his tribe. Horner is an artist member of the Amos Eno Gallery, Brooklyn, NY, and New York Artists Equity, Association, Inc., New York, NY. And he also helped found scorchzine (a zine publishing group of artists) and he’s a member of Teleportal, an international artist collective.

His Illuminations include LGBTQ+ icons and everyday folk as paintings, but he also creates sculptures, drawings, and prints. In 2024 Horner exhibited at Amos Eno Gallery, Lichtundfire, Greenwich House Pottery, Art for Peace Gallery, b l i n k 2.0 (a Chicago public art project) and he’ll participate in the Atelier Residency at Chateau Bouthonvilleres, Dangeau, France. Recently he exhibited at Satchel Projects, Studio 9D and with Visual AIDS at Ortuzar Projects (2023) and with GMHC artists at the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art (2019, 2017, 2015, 2013). 

Horner received a B.A. In Communications with minors in Art and Business at S.U.N.Y. Albany, Albany, NY; an M.B.A. in Marketing at Pace University, White Plains, NY; an M.F.A. in Painting at Lehman College, Bronx, NY; and he regularly takes fine art continuing education courses.

Recent residencies include: the Uncool Artist and DNA Artist Residency (2023) and the School of Visual Arts (SVA) (2022). In 2023, he completed a program at the Bronx Museum (2023) where he focused on queer icons in a zine and a series of prints that were added to the museums’ archive.
